The Harrison County Alternative School, established in 1998, offers students an alternative to expulsion while providing an academic curriculum that also includes conflict resolution and drug education. The school was first housed at North Gulfport with seven teachers who taught the four major subject classes as well as special education courses. The Alternative School is now located adjacent to the Harrison County School District Administrative building on Highway 49. Currently, there are four (4) Grade 7-8 teachers, five (5) Grade 9-12th teachers, and two (2) Special Education teachers.

We believe active involvement, input, and cooperation between parents and staff members is essential in developing and implementing individualized academic plans and behavioral goals for each student enrolled at our school.
